MLB – Colorado at Boston

MLB Baseball Betting

Josh Beckett has been as good as ever for the Boston Red Sox this MLB Baseball Betting season, going 9-0 with a stellar 2.88 ERA and 1.000 WHIP. Probably best known for his incredible World Series performance in 2003 with Florida, the 27 year-old righthander hadn’t really shown the same dominance since. But this MLB Baseball Betting season has been special for Beckett, and he’ll look to stay perfect at 10-0 tonight when he and BoSox host Colorado in the rubber match of a three game interleague set. Boston is a hefty –215 favorite.

After signing a 3-year, $30M contract extension following his 16-11, 5.01 ERA MLB Baseball Betting season of 2006, Beckett has really found the groove. He’s yet to give up more than four earned runs in any start this year and his team has won all but 11 of his starts. Of course, he took a no-decision in that game against the Yankees 12 days ago, so he remains perfect at 9-0, and seemingly headed to an all-star game start next month. However, he’ll need to keep up the quality start pace since other AL starters like John Lackey of the Angels and CC Sabathia of the Indians are also off to fast starts.

Consider this though: In only one other start this year was Beckett this big of a favorite. That game was at home against Baltimore last month when Boston closed as a –240 favorite and won 6-5.

Beckett is backed by a pair of real strong team trends tonight:

BOSTON is 34-13 (+12.8 Units) against the money line as a favorite of -110 or higher this MLB Baseball Betting season. The average score was BOSTON 5.3, OPPONENT 3.6 - (Rating = 1*)
And
BOSTON is 21-5 (+14.9 Units) against the money line in an inter-league game over the last 2 MLB Baseball Betting seasons. The average score was BOSTON 6.3, OPPONENT 4.4 - (Rating = 1*)

For Colorado, Jeff Francis will take the hill. He is enjoying a decent campaign himself, with a 3.81 ERA and 1.294 WHIP. Those are certainly respectable numbers for pitching at Coors Field half the time. In fact, in his road starts, he owns a 3.09 ERA with a WHIP of 1.114, so Beckett could be in for a tough contest despite the hefty chalk line.

The first pitch for tonight’s contest is scheduled for 7:05 PM ET on local broadcasts and MLBTV.
